The theme of this year’s display is based on Poseidon, an Olympian from Greek mythology who was named “God of the Sea”. The display will open with large candle fan sequences that produce a W in the sky to represent the town of Whitby from 3 positions. This will be followed by a large sequence of blue shells representing the sea over which Poseidon presided. White shells will represent the waves and thunderous salutes will lead to a spectacular finale that will fill the sky with large shells that will echo around the town. The display will be full of symmetrical sequences which will include a special gold ring sequence to represent the Olympics in Rio that will take place in August 2016.
